ALL JAY KOKA STUDIO EDITIONS are produced by the studio...
You should know that all of our giclee editions are produced completely in-house by the studio under the direct supervision of the artist. Every print is produced, inspected and signed etc by the artist... one at a time. It doesn't matter where you purchase a Jay Koka print... on this site, at a gallery or from an art dealer, if it has an embossed seal, it was produced by the artist. All edition sizes are guaranteed by the studio.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is a "limited" edition? A limited edition is one in which the number of reproductions produced is limited to a specific number. Each print is individually numbered within the edition as '2/149' for example showing that this print is number 2 in an edition of 149. Limited editions are also titled and signed by the artist and sometimes dated. These notations are made in pencil, usually at the bottom edge of the image. Jay Koka Studio Editions "limited editions" are produced with ample margin for framing on finest quality, heavy weight, acid free paper by offset lithography or screenprinting or giclee. All limited edition production is supervised by the artist.
Are they really signed by Jay Koka? Yes. Every single limited edition print is personally inspected and numbered, titled and signed by the artist. Jay Koka Studio Editions are also "Embossed" with the Studio Seal to ensure authenticity.
What happens when an edition is sold out? With us, nothing. When a limited edition is sold out, it is sold out FOREVER. We do not reprint or issue 'second editions'. NEVER. Sold out editions are only available on the secondary market over which we have no control.
What is a 'poster' edition? Poster (or 'open poster') editions carry no commitment as to how many are produced. There can be one hundred or one hundred million. And if the edition is sold out, it can be, at the publisher's discretion, reprinted as many times as necessary to meet demand. Posters are also usually printed on fairly light weight 'poster' paper and almost always have writing on them in addition to the art. Jay Koka Studio Editions specializes in 'limited editions' but we do have a few posters and occassionally the posters are available with a remarque.
What is an 'artist proof'? Artist Proofs are the artist's personal copies from an edition. They are often (but not always) offered for sale. Artist Proofs carry the same image and are the same physical size as the rest of the 'numbered' edition however, the total number produced is very small, less than 10% of the total production. Jay Koka Studio Editions Artist proofs are always dated for the proofing, titled, numbered and signed and are usually 'remarqued'. Artist Proofs are of special interest to collectors because of the extremely small number produced, with us, usually 15 or less. There are generally no proofs available in giclee editions.
What is a 'press proof'? A Press Proof is a proof sheet left over from the general edition. They are not always available and are not offered for sale before the general edition is sold out. Jay Koka Studio Editions Press Proofs are always 'perfect copies'. We do not however always have them available for sale. They are notated as 'press proof' and titled and signed by the artist. There are generally no proofs available in giclee editions.
